Outpost 17 was a remote station that was established by the New Republic, in the Unknown Region.
History
Outpost 17 was constructed in orbit of the planet Durace, to allow scientists to study the world's weather and topographical phenomena from a safe distance. It also served another purpose, as a supply port for scouts who were working in the Unknown Region.
During the Yuuzhan Vong War, the outpost was destroyed and a number of legends spread regarding what had happened to the facility's remains. The stories claimed that the outpost had crashed onto Durace, and that it contained a valuable treasure. Some of the tales claimed that the treasure was a valuable ore, while in others, it was said to be the lightsaber of Jedi Grand Master Luke Skywalker.
