Description: The Arik is a common riding animal on swampy worlds, decended as it is from an amphibious animal, and although it cannot swim very well, it is quite capable of wading through shallow water with ease. The Arik is a carnivore meaning that it can be dangerous to the novice rider, with some riders ending up quite badly mauled by these vicious creatures, but under control of a trained rider they make surprisingly fast mounts. Because they are fairly vicious they do not make popular mounts for civilians, but for exactly this reason they are popular with soldiers, who when trained properly can use the Arik as a dangerous weapon.
