Special Abilities:
Defensive Spines: These protect the spine-back from predators in the wild. Any creature which attempts to bite or otherwise attack with parts of its body takes 2D damage from these very sharp and very painful projections. On a roll of one on the “Wild” die, the attacker also gets an infection from the bacteria which grow on the spine-back’s exoskeleton. Expert sea farmers handle their stock with specially treated puncture-proof gloves and wetsuits.
Offensive Taste: Wild spine-backs (as opposed to farm-raised ones) taste absolutely horrible. Any being trying to eat even a bite of the meat must make difficult strength roll or vomit up everything they just ate. Even if they succeed, the taste is so vile and disgusting, like eating rotten eggs, that they’ll never want to do it again.
