Description: The Dropship 77-Troop Carrier (abbreviated D77-TC), more commonly known as the Pelican, is an extremely versatile aircraft used by the UNSC, mainly for the pickup and transportation of various personnel, vehicles and equipment, although it can also be used as a powerful support gunship.

The D77-TC Pelican is mainly used for the rapid insertion and extraction of ground troops. They may deliver vehicles and vital equipment to the battlefield when required. The D77-TC has been in service for over fifty years, and is the primary tactical support aircraft of the UNSC. The Pelican is a multi-role aircraft; it is fully capable of atmospheric flight and can land almost anywhere without difficulty. The Pelican is also capable of limited spaceflight, which the UNSC uses as a primary method of delivering troops to the surface from orbit. Standard armament consists of one Class III externally powered projectile weapon at the bow of the craft, and one Class I gas-operated projectile weapon mounted at the rear, in the extended crew area. More heavily armed variants do exist, with multiple and more powerful weapons.

Description: The Dropship 77 Heavy-Troop Carrier/Infantry, abbreviated D77H-TCI, more commonly known as the Pelican, is a newer model of the venerable D77-TC Pelican dropship, introduced into service within the UNSC Marine Corps and Navy in late 2552 and early 2553.

The D77H-TCI is a fleet-wide upgrade to the UNSC's Pelican dropships, used in active service for more than fifty years. First seen deployed in November, 2552, the D77H-TCI Pelican is the primary tactical support aircraft of the UNSC. Like its previous model, the D77H-TCI Pelican serves as a multi-role purpose aircraft. The dropship is fully capable of atmospheric and\or limited spaceflight and can land almost anywhere without difficultymaking it the primary troop transport of the UNSC.

The D77H-TCI has several drastic design changes to both the interior, and exterior, although the exteriors changes are not as noticeable as the interior is. The first significant change is in the cockpit area of the D77H-TCI which instead of having the pilot and co-pilot sitting next to each other, the co-pilot is now seated behind and above the pilot, the control's and instrument panels have been rearranged and upgraded for the D77H. A small holo-tank is installed in the cockpit, allowing an Artificial intelligence to project its holographic form to the craft's pilots.

Description: The D77C-NMPD Pelican Dropship was a variant of the D77H-TCI Dropship used by the police department of New Mombasa, Kenya.

Overall, the craft is almost identical to the military D77H-TCI variant used by the UNSC Marine Corps, with the exception of its police livery and a number of additions, including a high-speed camera on the bow of the dropship to monitor traffic and a rescue cable at the rear of the troop bay. Most of these dropships are armed with an AIE-486H Heavy Machine Gun in the troop bay.

Description: The Dropship 79 Heavy-Troop Carrier (D79H-TC), more commonly known as the Pelican, is an extremely versatile aircraft capable of carrying troops, cargo, or vehicles, and sporting a heavy arsenal of weapons. This model of the Pelican has two nose-mounted machine guns operable by the pilot. The G79H-TC/MA Pelican is the gunship variant.

The D79H-TC differs quite extremely from its predecessor, the D77H-TCI. Overall, its design is more rounded and streamlined, moving away from the very angular design of the D77 series. The cockpit is no longer accessed through the troop bay, but rather through the windshield itself, which opens to allow pilots to board.

The troop bay has also undergone some changes, most notably its ramp, which is now considerably longer than its predecessor's was. The D79H-TC is still capable of transporting vehicles underslung in the same way as its predecessor, and it is implied that at least three D79s have enough lifting power between them to lift an M510 Mammoth.

The D79H-TC's engines differ from the D77 series in that the main thruster wings now only have rear-facing jets. Along the bottom of the hull are four directional thrusters which, along with the rear thrusters, control the D79's VTOL operations. In addition, the main hull has two further thrusters, one on either side, and the very rear of the craft has a pair, providing this version of the Pelican with far superior acceleration and speed than its D77 predecessors.

In an offensive capacity, the D79H-TC sports two nose-mounted 70mm autocannons capable of an extremely high rate of fire and accuracy over long ranges. Its cousin, the G79H-TC/MA Pelican, possesses considerably more offensive firepower, including a variant of the M8C Grindell/Galilean Nonlinear Weapon.
