Character Points,

Equipment: One statuette, amulet or other trinket of obscure mystical import, 250 credits
Background: In its long and peaceful history, your species has learned much about the universe and the nature of existence. You yourself have contributed but little to this knowledge, but you have meditated long and hard on reality, and especially on that quality that some call the Force. You have some small degree of what humans call Jedi powers.
Your species prefers its solitary existence, and has never seen reason to have commerce with the rest of the galaxy. But you have decided to leave your native planet. Perhaps you seek the true Jedi, hoping to learn more about the Force from them. Perhaps you are simply curious. Perhaps the Empire has committed atrocities on your planet.
Choose any of these motivations, or invent another, but clear your motivation with your gamemaster if you make up your own.
Note: You may choose whatever appearance you wish. Your species is rarely encountered in the galaxy, so your appearance is not commonly known or identified. However, strange-looking aliens are common enough that your appearance is rarely remarked upon.
Personality: Think of yourself as a mystic, one of a tradition different from that followed by the Jedi, but of a similar nature. Like Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi or the fully trained Luke Skywalker, you are calm, a little humble, and treat every living being with respect.
Objectives: To further your knowledge of the Force and to find a great teacher to further enlighten you.
Connection With Characters: You might agree to accept a brash pilot or another character as a student. You might be eager to learn from a failed Jedi, minor Jedi or young Jedi. You might have befriended a laconic scout, smuggler, or gambler in your travels.

Equipment: Comlink, gang jacket and colors, heavy blaster pistol (5D), swoop, vibro-shiv (STR+1D), 1,000 credits
Background: You watched as your planet fell into economic ruin. You stood by when the Empire asserted control. You laughed when the gangs started running things, you even helped them torch the local security station. But when they canceled the concert tour of your favorite band, they went too far. Now you're mad and you're gonna make them pay (or at least reschedule the concert). You've gathered your gang and you're ready to ride!
Personality: You're assertive and tough - you prefer action to just sitting around. But you always have a plan first, then take the fight to the enemy. And, of course, one of your first concerns is the welfare of the gang and those who depend on the gang.
Objectives: To deal some damage to the authorities and win back what you want. Also, to watch out for the best interests of your gang.

Force Sensitive? Uh Huh
Force Points All of Them
Dark Side Points Some of Them
Character Points, As Many as He Needs

Equipment: Sweet lightsaber, tricked out X-Wing, sassy R2 unit, prissy 3P0 unit, sweet ass robo hand, commlink
Background: The son of a homicidal murder machine and a woman who made hilariously bad choices in every aspect of her life-fashion, makeup, boyfriends-except politics. Luke was destined for a life of boredom with a creepy aunt and uncle who didn't have much interest in taking him in. His biggest worry in the world was trying to pick up the local women as often as he could (they were known by the local term "Power Converters.") Then one day, like Harry Potter, a larger than life figure interrupted his inane bliss and exposed him to a whole new world. After aging half-homicidal maniac Ben Kenobi managed to murder his foster family, he kidnapped the young Luke and forced him to join a terrorist organization intent on overthrowing the Imperial government through violence.
Upon meeting his real father the Stockholm Syndrome fully manifested after he witnessed Ben being killed and in a fit of fury proceeded to destroy a massive government facility, killing millions in the process. The terrorist organization lauded him as a hero and he was now a wanted man. Soon after his feelings for his sister manifested in a passionate embrace on an ice locked world. Shamed by his behavior he ran away while his father dealt with the terrorists. After drunkenly piloting his starfighter into a swamp he met a Muppet who explained that he was very special.
In reality his terrorist activities were a mere facade for a religious war that had been brewing for years. After a few weeks of indoctrination in his new religion he was ready to free the galaxy from the oppression of a group that insisted its view was the only correct one and that stifled anyone that tried to hold a contrarian viewpoint.
Note: Noted
Personality: Whiny, and pouty, but especially just whiny.
Objectives: To pick up some power converters, learn more sweet laser sword moves and polish his X-Wing.
Connection With Characters: In love with his sister, in an intense bro-mance with the scoundrel, related to the bad guy and friend of the fuzzball. Also is the slaveowner of two mechanical sentients.
Source: Some movie from somewhere.

Character Templates

In regards to changing the character templates, I'd ask that you leave them as the current template style. It seems to me that WikiSysop has settled on that style and he's the boss of the site.

Also...

Also would it be alright if after the master list on the Character Template page I added additional collapsible lists of for the templates that share a common theme? For example, Rebel Operatives, Smugglers and Scoundrels, Pirates and Privateers, Imperials, New Republic Era, Bounty Hunters, Tapani Sector Campaign, etc. Obviously nearly any template can be used with any campaign, but it might help new/returning GMs to point characters to specific sections for inspiration.

I don't seem to have an issue with this at all. But. I will ask that it look good and function smoothly.

Also...

On the subject of organizing, how do we feel about categories?

One of the earlier versions of the D6Holocron website had a big issue with people coming in and categorizing the site according to how they felt it should be done. We eventually left that host and moved on after many headaches, arguments and more. I'd ask that for now you stick to the current style on the Holocron until a day when the boss man decides to make a change.

Content Guidelines

Which pocket computer are you referencing?

A lot of the entries on the Holocron were directly copied and pasted from a collection pdf. So a lot of the entries are missing the basic descriptions and for some, the source. Some of us are still going through and trying to add the descriptions, since when we started most of us felt it was better to have the basic info minus the descriptions rather than nothing at all. Also, some entries are still needing to be cleaned up from the several moves the site has had over the years, this in addition to the various poor hosting security that allowed thousands of hackers and bots to attack the site. All of this and more has caused a a lot of work still to do. As you can see I'm still going through at times and cleaning up entries here and there. All while still trying to add lots of stuff from my collections to the crossovers section.

Now when it comes to adding a description, my preference is to first try and add whats in the book(s) and if nothing is available then second move on to another official star wars source. If no official source has a description for the item in question I'll leave it blank.

Since I am a GM I prefer to have creditable sources for an entry, even if its something I wrote up, like most of the crossovers. Most of the time I will list myself as one of the sources of information. For example if I used hundreds of sources, Earth Firearms is one example, I left out the general source information and left it as it is now.

I get the general feeling that you're wanting make a lot of changes to the site and to help us out. For this, I am thankful, but skeptical. I've personally been with the Holocron since October 2010. There's still a lot of work that needs to be done all over the site. Adding descriptions to entries that lack them. Tracking down sources for numerous entries. Cleaning up entries so they all fit the same general format for each area. Adding more information on the basics of how to play the game. Finding and fixing dead links. Adding pictures of items that lack visual representation. Spell Checking is huge. Cleaning up some of the encoding on some entries needs to be done too. And much more...

As you can see there's a lot to do. I don't mean to cut down your hopes for changing things around, which is fine just do it the right way. Ask the boss man. Although I'm pretty sure he's not always on or around. Best bet would be to ask the mobs via our facebook group; D6Holoron.

Hey, gonna see if we can talk on just one page. :)
As you say there's a lot of work to do! As someone new who's only interested in official WEG stuff I decided to pick a section that was wholly official (templates) and work on that.
So atm I'm trying to mostly set myself up for success. Making sure I can use a new format for the template, properly linking items listed in equipment, getting permission to prettify the template page, etc.
In response to your question, the Pocket Computer listed in the Star Wars Sourcebook. As you know that book had a big equipment list and a description section that talked very generally about only some of them.
I've only been active a very short while, but seeing the front page with comments years old and only you providing content the site seemed a bit neglected. So, there you have it. I intend to pretty up templates to get my feet wet and add small stuff based on that. After that's done we'll see what's next! --ABCoLD (talk) 17:36, 22 April 2016 (CDT)

ABCoLD I'm not gonna give you the final yay or nay regarding the character templates. Ask the boss man, WikiSysop / Bsdoblivion (they're the same guy). If he won't give you an answer then ask the users via the site's facebook page: D6Holoron Facebook Group Page. If they agrre to your change then thats your green light, if they say no, then move on to the next area.

I've asked, I'm on cruise control till I hear back from the bossman. I just wanted you to be clear on what my goals are atm. :) --ABCoLD (talk) 16:40, 23 April 2016 (CDT)
